Cyndi is a stay-at-home mom, although she is never home. She tries to be super-involved in their classrooms and programs, as well as many other community groups dealing with Autism. She has taken parenting classes and START (Autism) classes in order to find alternative forms of communication and therapies with her nonverbal children. Cyndi has given talks to various audiences about living with Autism, as well as taught sign language to parents. Her outlook that Autism is not the end of the world, but the start of a new journey, is why she has been asked innumerable times to talk with parents who have been devastated by their child’s recent Autism diagnosis. Cyndi believes that part of our battle is to make people aware of what Autism is, how devastating it can be, and how a bit of understanding and acceptance can mean the world to those affected.
